New GSA MAS 8(A) Pool Strives to Increase Federal Procurement Opportunities for Small-Disadvantaged Businesses

New GSA MAS 8(A) Pool Strives to Increase Federal Procurement Opportunities for Small-Disadvantaged Businesses

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the General Services Administration (GSA) have entered into a revised 8(a) Program Partnership Agreement (PA). The primary goal of this agreement is to establish an 8(a) Pool (Pool) under Multiple Award Schedule (MAS), aimed at enhancing contracting opportunities for 8(a) contractors by making them more visible to Contracting Officers for competitive set-aside and sole-source awards.

If you’re already an 8(a) participant, make the most of this initiative to join the program. If you’re a qualified Small Disadvantaged Business without the 8(a) certification, it’s a smart move to consider applying. As a Pool member, you can tap into the advantages offered by this initiative within the MAS program. The 8aS icon on the Schedule will make your company visible to Contracting Officers and large GovCons trying to meet their small business utilization goals.

GSA MAS Refresh #17: A Highly Anticipated and Exciting Refresh!

The eagerly awaited Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) Refresh #17, accompanied by a Mass Modification, was launched by the General Services Administration (GSA) in July.

This refresh encompassed modifications to the overall solicitation, as well as changes specific to certain Large Categories and Special Item Numbers (SINs), which apply uniformly to all existing schedule holders offering products and services.

Alongside these updates, there are notable changes and guidelines concerning Joint Ventures, as well as the 8(a) pool for MAS contractors actively participating in the 8(a) program.

What are you looking forward to the most about “Contracts Season”?

I look forward to assisting our clients in navigating the intricacies of GSA contracts, ensuring the successful preparation of all their modification needs for a smooth submission and faster approval process before the end of the fiscal year. Each contract season presents unique challenges, and I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to apply creative problem-solving skills to address any issues that may arise and ensure our clients’ success.

What is the best way to stay up-to-date with changes in GSA regulations & policies?

I highly recommend subscribing to GSA Interact! It serves as a digital hub for industry partners, providing essential program information and updates on all GSA contracts, conveniently delivered to your inbox.

I also suggest subscribing to the newsletter released by the Multiple Award Schedule Program Management Office (MAS PMO), which is published quarterly and packed with the latest updates and crucial information. Staying informed is key to ensuring you don’t miss any important news or deadlines!

What are the benefits of the GSA Schedule program?

The General Services Administration (GSA) Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) is like a golden ticket to a world of business opportunities, where government buyers spend over $45 billion annually.

Here are three outstanding benefits:

1. It provides access to one of the most lucrative markets globally—the U.S. government. Companies can compete for government contracts without navigating complex procurement processes, making it incredibly rewarding.

2. The streamlined procurement process simplifies the way government agencies and sellers interact. With predetermined terms, pricing structures, and compliance standards, it reduces negotiation time and effort.

3. Moreover, the MAS contract offers a unique long-term opportunity with a 5-year base period and three 5-year option periods, totaling 20 years!

Favorite Fall Activity?

My favorite fall activity is enjoying my favorite fall drink (pumpkin spice latte, of course) while taking my little boy to a pumpkin patch. It is so much fun!

Fun Fact:

I’m an enthusiastic foodie who can’t resist exploring coffee shops and exotic cuisines. Occasionally, my love for food knows no bounds, and I find myself devouring more than I can handle.

Brie Paramo is an accomplished contracts professional with extensive experience in GSA schedules and GSA contracts. As a dedicated BOOST MAS consultant, she channels her expertise to assist contractors in effectively acquiring and managing their MAS contracts.
