New Win? New Recruiting Strategy!
If you have recently won new work and still need to fill positions, you are going to need a stellar recruiting team. We at BOOST care deeply about the most important aspects of winning new work. Prior to an award announcement, you probably did some key personnel searches, maybe even approved a few contingent offers, or bid your current staff on the proposal, but now that you’re about to WIN it, are those people available, willing, and able to show up on day 1 of your contract? If not, then you have a long road ahead of you. Here are a couple of suggestions to aid in mitigating that stress.
- Complete your own gap analysis to understand how your team can stand up.
Who is still with you, who is double-booked on multiple contracts and doesn’t have bandwidth? Clearly define any vacancies or holes on your team and get in touch with the best GovCon recruiting team you know. You’ll want to do this as far ahead of time as possible – especially if you’re searching for candidates in the intelligence community. To say the cleared market is shallow would be an understatement. You’ll want as much time as you can get to bring together the team you need, for your unique organization, culture, and awarded work. - Know Your Timelines.
On the other end of the spectrum, if you’ve just been awarded a contract (Congrats!) chances are you have a specific amount of time to begin the work (usually 30 days). Your best Recruiter will need to help you ditch the LCATS in favor of accurate job descriptions, and then go to market and help bring that talent to your organization. If it’s a cleared contract, then this point is even more urgent as mentioned previously. - Have a good recruiter in your back pocket.
Especially if you have a recruiting team, but they might scream if you add another job req to their current workload. In the industry, general marketplace talent, and GovCon cleared talent are two incredibly different worlds. You will need an experienced GovCon Recruiter to help you bring home this award you’ve worked so hard to win.
While the timing and the need to fill vacancies may feel dire, there is good news. The good news is that you actually DO know of some Recruiters who specialize in GovCon talent acquisition – BOOST. We have the SMEs to help prepare you to knock this awarded work out of the park on day 1 and beyond!
